  • Dosage:
    • Adults:
      • Cortical myoclonus: The daily dose should start at 7.2 g, divided into 2-3 doses (equivalent to 2400 mg/dose, 3 times daily). Depending on the response, increase by 4.8 g/day (4800 mg/day) every 3-4 days, up to a maximum dose of 24 g/day (24000 mg/day). Treatment with other anti-myoclonic drugs should be maintained at the same dosage. If clinical benefits are achieved, the dose of other drugs can be reduced.
      • Symptomatic treatment of psycho-organic syndrome: The recommended daily dose is 2.4 g – 4.8 g (2400 mg – 4800 mg), divided into 2-3 doses (equivalent to 800 mg – 1600 mg/dose, 3 times daily).
      • Vertigo: The recommended daily dose is 2.4 g – 4.8 g (2400 mg – 4800 mg), divided into 2-3 doses (equivalent to 800 mg – 1600 mg/dose, 3 times daily).
      • Sickle cell anemia:
        • For prevention: The recommended daily dose is 160 mg/kg of body weight, divided into 4 doses.
        • For relief of acute crises: The recommended daily dose is 300 mg/kg of body weight, administered intravenously, divided into 4 doses.
    • Children:
      • Dyslexia: The recommended dose for children ≥ 8 years is 3.2 g/day (3200 mg/day or 8 tablets/day), divided into 2-3 doses, taken regularly throughout the school year.
      • Sickle cell anemia: For children 3 years and older, the dose for crisis prevention is 160 mg/kg of body weight, divided into 4 doses. In an acute crisis, the dose is 300 mg/kg of body weight, administered intravenously, divided into 4 doses.
    • Elderly: Dose adjustment is recommended for elderly patients with impaired renal function. For long-term treatment in the elderly, creatinine clearance should be regularly assessed to adjust the dose as needed.
    • Renal Impairment: The daily dose is calculated individually based on renal function.
