Indications
- Acute hypocalcemia (infant tetany, hypoparathyroidism, hypocalcemic syndrome, re-mineralization after hyperparathyroidism surgery, vitamin D deficiency), and prevention of hypocalcemia during blood exchange transfusions.
- Long-term anticonvulsant therapy (increased vitamin D breakdown).
- Calcium-deficient diets, especially during periods of increased calcium needs: growth, pregnancy, lactation, and old age.
- Hyperkalemia, hypermagnesemia.
- Calcium channel blocker overdose or ethylene glycol poisoning.
- After massive blood transfusions containing calcium citrate, which can cause reduced blood Ca++.
Dosage & Administration
- Administration: Dissolve one CALCIUM VPC 500 effervescent tablet in a glass of water (approx. 200ml). Drink immediately after it has fully dissolved.
- Dosage:
- Children 6-10 years: 1 tablet daily.
- Adults and children over 10 years: 1 tablet, twice daily.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.
- Severe hypercalcemia; severe hypercalciuria and osteoporosis due to immobilization; heart and kidney disease; ventricular fibrillation during cardiac resuscitation; bone-destroying malignant tumors; patients taking digitalis.

- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 30°C, away from light.
